Relics are a category of equipment, available at level 60.[1] They provide special passive abilities and effects to the character, some of which used to be provided by sixth-tier rune bonuses.
Acquisition
- PvE and WvW
- Core relics are available through crafting and the trading post.
- Recipes are available for purchase from Master Armorsmiths, Master Leatherworkers and Master Tailors.
- Expansion relics are available through collections, instanced content like Fractals of the Mists and Strike Missions, reward tracks, achievements, story progression and more.
- Expansion relics are unlocked account-wide and can be purchased from Junior Archivist and Archivist Ikur as well as the Heroics Notary in World versus World.
- PvP
- All relics are automatically unlocked and are available for use through the PvP Build panel, part of Equipment within the Hero panel.
- Relic of Mercy and Relic of the Cavalier are unavailable.
- Relics that summon companions such as Relic of the Golemancer, Relic of the Privateer, Relic of the Lich, and Relic of the Ogre are unavailable.

- Additional relics are added over time.[2]
- 40 core relics at launch, available for all players: Relics—Core Set 1
- 12 additional core relics released with Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds — Repentance: Relics—Core Set 2
- 12 expansion relics upon release[2]: Relics—Secrets of the Obscure Set 1
- The Relic of the Fractal, Relic of the Unseen Invasion, and Relic of the Wizard's Tower are also available with Janthir Wilds, despite still requiring Secrets of the Obscure for the Legendary Relic.
- 6 additional expansion relics released with Through the Veil: Relics—Secrets of the Obscure Set 2
- 6 additional expansion relics released with The Midnight King: Relics—Secrets of the Obscure Set 3
- 6 additional expansion relics upon release: Relics—Janthir Wilds Set 1
- 6 additional expansion relics released with Godspawn: Relics—Janthir Wilds Set 2
- 6 additional expansion relics released with Absolution: Relics—Janthir Wilds Set 3
- 6 additional expansion relics upon release: Relics—Visions of Eternity Set 1
- 6 additional expansion relics released with Raids and Wardrobe: Relics—Visions of Eternity Set 2
- Earned through raid quickplay, these are also available to core accounts, despite still requiring Visions of Eternity for the Legendary Relic.
- 6 additional expansion relics released with The Only Way: Relics—Visions of Eternity Set 3
- Legendary
- The Legendary Relic was introduced in Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure as part of the second quarterly release, The Realm of Dreams.[3]
- Like other Legendary equipment, this item offers the convenience of freely swapping between different relic effects.[2]
- New relic effects for future expansions will need to be unlocked in order to be used in the legendary relic.[4]
