Dear Isla, Antonie, and Zora,
Hello again, my loves. I feel as though I see you around every corner and behind every rock. Your voices giggle at the edge of my consciousness, just out of range. If only I could reach out and... But you pull away every time I get close.
You all are the warmth of the sun on my skin and the icy shock of deep water, reminding me of what I once had and cruelly taunting me about what I've lost. Nothing ever changes on this island; all three of you still shimmer in my mind as you did on the last day I saw you. I cannot decide which is worse—that you will be forever frozen to me as you were then, or that you will change and grow old while I remain here, staring into the ceaseless waves.
Watch over them for me, Isla.
