Ingrid! How have you been?

Good. Hoelbrak's peaceful. The air is crisp and Wolf howls in the Wolfborn's favor. I can't ask for anything more, friend.

No troubles at all? I thought the Wolfborn thrived on stopping trouble in Hoelbrak.

We had a small scrap. A pup of a Wolfborn thought his duties included forcing brewers to give him free drinks. I pulled him out by his furs before any damage could be done.

What are you going to do with that Wolfborn?

Skarti told me to take him aside and deal with him. He's cooling his head in Wolf Hall until I can figure out what to do with him.

Ah, the kid meant well. What's a job wihout a perk? He just has to learn you earn that perk.

That's not the way of Wolf. A pack hunts together. One doesn't break from the group for treats or favors. I'll have to remind him of that.

Who are you?

I'm Ingrid Wolfsdottir. Wolfborn.

Wolfsdottir and Wolfborn? That can't be a coincidence.

I've lived alongside more wolves than norn. They taught me to hunt and fight. I claimed the title of wolf-daughter to honor them.

And the Wolfborn?

Some of the younger ones have trouble following our ways. As an older Wolfborn, I keep an eye on them and guide them when necessary.

You have to do that a lot?

By the time you're in, you know the rules. If you break them, you deal with me. I'm just a reminder that the rules apply to all the Wolfborn, too.

What do you look for when you are choosing someone for the Wolfborn?

We look for someone willing to protect Hoelbrak and everyone in it. It's not as glorious as hunting, but it's necessary.

It used to be a dozen of us. We were arrogant and fools, like all children who think they know it all. But Hoelbrak kept growing and we grew with it, and we matured.
