Heart of the Obscure Research^[1] is a mastery that allows players to hunt and close Mists Rifts during Rift Hunting with the use of the eponymous Heart of the Obscure object. It will be available exclusively through the Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure expansion.

Mechanics

The Heart of the Obscure can be used to track, hunt and close Kryptis and titanspawn Mists Rifts throughout the world. See Rift Hunting for more details.
After leveling the appropriate masteries, the Heart can also create updrafts or ley lines as well as open Minor and Greater Arcane Chests in select locations in the Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure zones.
