Sootberme is an area in western Mount Maelstrom. The Pact has established a camp in the area to contain the large number of Risen grouping up in the Murkvale.

- Starting from the Firebreak Fort Waypoint, go outside the fort and continue S-SW until you reach the southern tip of the mountain. Climb up the mountain, hugging the right cliff. Make a series of jumps until you reach the vista.
- What makes this Vista difficult is that there are trees blocking your view and the jumps are tricky in nature. Falls should not be deadly, however, be prepared to attempt this multiple times until the vista has been reached. Additionally, speed boosts may help - do not try to jump to the right to scale the cliff, instead try jump around the middle area (it may seem unscalable, but will let you go up).
- As an alternate route, you can scale farther up near the tree and work your way down to right above the vista. This takes longer but is easier to reach the vista with. The southern route is not so much tough as just not moving too far too fast, and a couple times the route appears unscalable considering what is right next to it that IS unscalable.
- The easiest alternative may be to start from the northwest corner of the mountain, near the Criterion Waypoint. Climb the mountain until you reach the huge tree at the peak, loop around the base of the tree counter-clockwise until you are due south of it and can't go any further, then start falling down a few ledges towards the vista.
