Death-Branded Lieutenants are human residents of the Free City of Amnoon who have been twisted by Kralkatorrik when the city was assaulted by a Brandstorm. The lieutenants have been augmented with death magic from Kralkatorrik's absorption of Zhaitan's energy. These Branded have the ability to raise the dead, creating Branded Thralls. They also gain protection from nearby Empowering Crystals.
