Priority Message: A Matter of Canthan Security Commander, I know you're occupied with your pursuit of Inquest forces further inland, but if you have a spare moment, I could do with another expert pair of eyes on an escalating situation in Shipwreck Strand. I can say no more in writing; please, if you're able to help, meet me on the cliffs overlooking the Dark Leviathan, just south of the waypoint. The wind at your back,—Kestrel Choole, Alliance Representative of Mori Village |
- Step 2. Speaking to Kestrel Choole
- Kestrel Choole: There you are, Commander. I feared my letter might've warned you away.
- No such luck. What's happening?
- Kestrel Choole: Cards on the table? I'd been keeping an eye on the other Canthan reps for their own safety. Comes with being a friend.
- Kestrel Choole: That said, I learned that Mi-Sun of the Ministry of Land Management has been cozying up with freebooters in my absence.
- Kestrel Choole: I need someone to approach one of her contacts. Norn male, blue helmet, probably a couple of pints deep at Canach's Bar.
- In a moment, Choole.
- Are you lost, Commander?
- What am I looking for again?
- Not this time.
- Step 3a. Speaking to the Drunk Contact
- See also: Crinkled Note
- Drunk Contact: Another mainlander 'ere to ruin my day? Already got chewed out by that Mi-Sun for info. Whaddya want?
- I'm looking for Mi-Sun, actually. You know her?
- Maybe I do, maybe I don't. Listen... Buy me a drink an' maybe I'll 'ave somethin' to share.
- (scoffs) Fine.
- Drunk Contact: Ha! Fair 'nough, but my cup's a little empty, if you catch my meanin'. Another drink would help jog the ol' noggin.
- Pass.
- Nothing, enjoy your drinks.
- Step 3b. First drink
- Drunk Contact: I'm mighty thirsty. You wanna get me a drink? Maybe then I'll have a little to share.
- (only with a drink)
- Yeah, sure. here.
- Drunk Contact: Huh... Still thirsty. (chuckles)
- I'm on it.
- Step 3c. Second drink
- Drunk Contact: Another!
- (only with a drink)
- Here. Another. Yeesh...
- Drunk Contact: Still a bit parched...
- Not yet.
- Step 3d. Third drink
- Drunk Contact: Well, "barkeep"? How 'bout another?
- Coming right...UP!
- (Throw the drink at him)
- Drunk Contact: The hell's wrong with you?
- Drunk Contact: Fine, I sent that Mi-Sun to Creig, a friend just outside the 'Booter's Path. Good luck gettin' to him, ass!
- After the last "drink"
- What? Step off! Ugh...
- You're a mess.
- Step 4a. Speaking to Freebooter Creig
- Freebooter Creig: Ugh...mainlanders. What's your business here? Spill, or your guts will do the spilling.
- Word is you've had dealings with another mainlander; Mi-Sun ring a bell?
- It might, but I've got one last crate to move for the crew. And, well, these knees aren't they used to be.
- (sighs) Sure.
- Pass.
- Save your threats.
- Step 4b. After placing down the Pirate Clothes Crate
- Freebooter Creig: My knees thank you. As for your mainlander friend, she seemed real interested in our "partnership" with the Inquest.
- Freebooter Creig: Traded us a couple jade-tech gizmos for a meeting with those little vermin further inland. Curious, don'tcha think?
Kestrel Choole Catch me up. Commander, I watched your interaction with the Inquest at a distance. I'll be sending another scout to take the surviving asura into alliance custody and get them patched up. When you're ready, meet me back at the hunter's camp; we should discuss next steps.—Choole |
- Step 5. Speaking to Kestrel Choole back at the Dark Leviathan
- You're back, hm? Pick up on any promising leads?
- Something like that. Here's what I learned.
- Kestrel Choole: That doesn't bode well...
- Kestrel Choole: If she's meeting with Inquest inland, we should regroup at camp; I received a missive from a contact there.
- What am I looking for again?
- Not yet.
- Step 6a. Catching up at Hunter's Camp
- Kestrel Choole: Commander, this is Ward Scout Eivor; she'll catch you up.
- Ward Scout Eivor: Scout Tiernan spotted your mark moving through the weald with a guide. Lost comms with them thanks to the magic here.
- Ward Scout Eivor: This is the frequency they use. Find a better transmission point and contact Tiernan; they'll set you right.
- Kestrel Choole: Got anything for me?
- What should I be doing again?
- Not yet.
- Step 6b-6c. Try to get comms reception
- Reception Point: (static noises)
- I'll try elsewhere.
- Step 6d. After getting comms reception
- Ward Scout Tiernan: Hello? Wayfinder? Your mark met with two Inquest near their HQ, and things escalated. Go now, while the trail is warm.
- Step 7a. Speaking to Inquest Webbi
- Inquest Webbi: Wha— Wait! Don't hurt me; I didn't kill her!
- What happened here? Where's Mi-Sun?
- L-look, I can tell you whatever, but I need to bury my friend. Kuda's subordinates will use me for golem target practice if she finds out about this mess.
- (sighs) All right.
- Gross. No way.
- Not my problem.
- Step 7b. Interacting with the Burial Spot
- Inquest Webbi: I-I didn't know her, she used a code name—Rose Viper. My supervisor, Zenna, and some freebooter arranged the meeting.
- Inquest Webbi: When Zenna didn't give her the info she wanted, Rose Viper killed her and slashed my leg. I told her everything.
- Inquest Webbi: All I know is that she's headed southwest through the jungle, to the ritual grounds.
- Inquest Webbi: Sh-she has to pay! She... My best friend is dead.
- Step 8. Speaking to Kestrel Choole
- Kestrel Choole: Got anything for me?
- Some Inquest ran afoul of Mi-Sun. She's using a codename: Rose Viper.
- Kestrel Choole: Rose Viper? Hm... Still, we should follow this lead. Meet me at Isgarren's camp to the southwest; we're closing in.
- Not yet.
- Step 9. Speaking to Ward Scout Teresa
- Ward Scout Teresa: Greetings. Choole was catching me up. I've got info for you.
- And? Is Mi-Sun here?
- Indeed. We don't question alliance comings and goings, but she was seen near the Deepwood outpost, skulking through the nearby ruins.
- Mind if I look over your notes?
Spotted the person of interest moving north along the western bank, avoiding the Inquest presence at the forge. Maybe she'll be seen at the Deepwood camp... Regardless, I should contact Choole as soon as possible.
- Appreciate it.
- Give me a minute.
- Kestrel Choole: Commander. Need anything?
- What should I be doing again?
- Not yet.
- Step 10. Investigating the Mysterious Location and being Trapped
- <Character Name>: (struggles)
- Mi-Sun: Not the mouse I expected to snare. No, you're a far greater catch. The Tyrian mainlander that took down the White Falcon...
- Mi-Sun: I'm going to savor this.
- Mi-Sun: You created a stir among our organization, and I intend to make the most of it.
- Mi-Sun: Whatever power Cantha claims in Castora will find its way into our hands eventually, one way or another.
- Mi-Sun: A shame you won't live to see it.
- Mi-Sun: What is—? You!
- Kestrel Choole: Commander, now!
- Step 12. After dealing with Mi-Sun
- Kestrel Choole: You've got a mean right hook, Commander; she's out like a light. I owe you my thanks, as does Cantha.
- Kestrel Choole: Not sure what I can glean from this Purist trash, but if not me, Minister Cho Min will see that MinSec gets their intel.
