Mistbound
Mistbound (stylized in all caps) is an upcoming digital collectible card game (DCCG) set in the Guild Wars franchise. It is officially licensed by ArenaNet, while being developed by NC and published by bilibili. Mistbound will be released on both PC and mobile.[1]
Gameplay and features
- Features dynamic movement-based gameplay on a 5×3 tactical grid, allowing commanders and units to move freely, reposition, and outmaneuver opponents.
- Combines strategic depth with accessibility through mechanics such as knockbacks, pulls, flanking, and shifting offensive and defensive positioning. Commanders actively participate in combat as powerful battlefield units.
- Uses a Commander × Profession system, pairing iconic Guild Wars characters with professions inspired by the nine professions of Guild Wars 2, enabling diverse tactical combinations.
- Preserves the signature Guild Wars visual and audio identity, featuring returning characters, updated presentation, music from original franchise composers, and character-driven voice performances. [1]
Development
“[...] When Mistbound officially launches, it will be available in China only to start. We'll consider a possible wider release in other territories at a later date, but first, the team building Mistbound will have the time to iterate and respond to feedback from Guild Wars fans close to home.
And while ArenaNet served as a key partner, providing guidance and feedback on the final product, we did not develop nor will we be publishing the game. We do look forward to seeing how Chinese players receive it.

Trivia
- Because the game initially releases in China, several elements were adjusted to comply with local content regulations. The necromancer uses the alternative profession icon from the chinese version of Guild Wars 2 that does not depict a skull, while some character designs were modified to reduce visible tattoos and exposed body parts.
