[[Agony]] is an effect unique to the [[Fractals of the Mists]] that removes a percentage of the player&amp;#039;s health every second and reduces [[healing]] received by 70% (regardless of stacks). It is not affected by [[condition removal]], but the damage received can be mitigated using [[infusion]]s that grant [[Agony Resistance]].&lt;br /&gt;

== Mechanics ==&lt;br /&gt;
Players encounter agony beginning at difficulty scale 20. Agony inflicts a percentage of your max health every second. The percent of damage increases as the difficulty scale goes up. Unlike conditions, agony is not removed upon going [[downed]], so it will continue to deal damage. Because your downed health is triple your base health, agony will also do three times more damage causing you to be defeated quicker.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Enemy attacks that apply agony can be avoided by [[Dodge|dodging]], [[Evade|evading]], [[Block|blocking]], going [[invulnerable]], and/or other actions that prevent the attacks from hitting.&lt;br /&gt;

In certain fractals, upon reaching the final area where the boss is, all players will be afflicted with agony (also called an agony check).&lt;br /&gt;

The damage from agony can be mitigated with the [[Agony Resistance]] (AR). Every level of difficulty scale increases the health loss by approximately 2.1 percentage points. Each point of AR reduces the health loss by 1.2 percentage points, to a minimum of 1% health lost per second. The table shows every 10th scale, and increments of 5 AR (6 percentage points reduction) for brevity.&lt;br /&gt;
